Description

Chili con carne is a hearty, spiced one-pot dish where the flavours deepen with slow cooking.

Onion is sauteed in oil until soft. The ground beef is added and browned over high heat until crumbly and slightly caramelised.

Garlic and spices are added and briefly fried to release their aromas.

Tomatoes and beans are stirred in, along with a little water or stock.

  • Simmered over low heat
  • Stirred occasionally
  • Liquid is topped up as needed

Cooked for at least 45-60 minutes for the flavours to meld. Salt, acidity and heat are adjusted at the end.

Served with fresh coriander or a dollop of sour cream.
